Senior Manager of Structured Finance
Description
The Senior Manager of Structured Finance is responsible for raising external project financing, primarily tax equity financing, for utility-scale renewable energy projects as a key contributor to RWE's growth and financial objectives. The Structured Finance team works closely with investors, third-party consultants, and internal business teams to efficiently execute financing transactions and support RWE's strategic objectives. The ideal candidate has experience in leading renewable energy financing transactions and has a problem-solving mindset to efficiently manage multiple priorities while keeping the "big picture" of RWE's best interests in mind.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the structuring, negotiation, and due diligence for tax equity transactions
- Manage various workstreams necessary to successfully execute financing transactions, including having a lead role in structuring the economics of the transaction, negotiating deal documentation, and diligence management
- Provide coaching and development to junior members of the team
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- Work collaboratively across RWE business teams related to financial modeling and transaction execution
- Communicate effectively with Structured Finance team colleagues, internal business teams, and external stakeholders
- Prepare internal and external presentation materials
- Assist other parts of the finance team as required, including quality control reviews and investment decision support
- Recommend and lead process improvement initiatives
- Assist with various internal ad hoc project
Qualifications:
- Minimum 8 years of experience overall with at least 3 years of hands-on tax equity financing experience (required)
- Minimum 5 years of relevant finance experience in the US renewable energy industry
- Advanced level knowledge of renewable energy project economics (specifically wind, solar, or storage) and related incentive systems (required)
- Advanced level knowledge of tax equity partnership flip structures, funding models, and agreements along with experience in negotiating such agreements (required)
- Experience modeling tax equity partnership flip structures (required)
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Ability to apply creative thinking to solve complex, interrelated problems
- Team player with the flexibility to work both independently and in cross-functional teams
- Effective communicator with strong written and presentation skills
- Bachelor's Degree (required) with a background in business, finance, accounting, tax, or an analytical/quantitative field preferred
- Master's Degree in Business, Chartered Financial Analyst, or similar postgraduate degree is considered a plus
